Trade Data Product Updates

Futures Funding Rate - ‘Real Time’ Feed Switch: This month we've completed an enhancement to our Futures Funding rate feeds. Following valuable feedback from institutional clients, we are transitioning from solely capturing 'settled' funding values to incorporating a 'realtime', tick-by-tick feed across all exchanges where available. This ensures that users receive more frequent and current funding rate updates while ensuring consistency with settled figures.

Faster On-Chain DEX Block Retrieval: Growing block sizes were creating performance bottlenecks that threatened our ability to keep pace with real-time on-chain activity. We've implemented improvements to significantly increase the speed of block retrieval for on-chain DEX exchanges, specifically addressing performance bottlenecks with Base and Arbitrum. This now completed enhancement ensures we can keep up with the fast pace of on-chain data, providing accurate and immediately available information from DEX platforms.

Options - Fully Automated House-Record Process: Our options mapping system provides standardization and ease of comparison between instruments on different venues, but previously required manual input and oversight. This was becoming increasingly problematic as options listings expanded to more and more altcoins. We have now fully automated our house-record mapping process - enabling the system to automatically create its own house record entries and add instruments as they appear, ensuring immediate mapping. This enhancement also ensures that instrument statuses change promptly once an instrument reaches its expiry time.

Options - New Binance Integration: On top of the mentioned mapping upgrades, we are pleased to release our Binance options integration, adding coverage of all instruments listed on its options platform.

Order Book Data Product Updates

Improved Order Book Snapshot Metadata: Historical orderbook data is often difficult to access and consume - our historical order book snapshots and metrics take the complex yet valuable dataset and derive clear insights into historical market state.

We've undertaken significant work to improve the discoverability of our order book snapshot data. A new field has been added to our instrument metadata (FIRST_OB_L2_MINUTE_SNAPSHOT_TS) for all instruments where orderbook data is available. This update ensures that the field now accurately reflects the earliest available snapshot for an instrument.

Introducing Futures Order Book Replay: Building on the success of our Spot Order Book Replay, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Futures Order Book Replay subscription product! This new offering extends the same powerful capabilities you rely on for historical market analysis, backtesting and compliance, now for the dynamic world of futures trading.

With Futures Order Book Replay, you gain access to historical Level 2 market data updates from supported futures exchanges. This allows you to replay past market events in a standardized, accessible format, delivering an initial order book snapshot and then replaying L2 updates based on your specified parameters.

Why should you give it a try?
  • Enhanced Backtesting & Strategy Validation: Futures traders and quantitative analysts can rigorously test and refine their strategies against precise historical futures order book data. This can help refine strategies and confidence before live deployment.
  • Deeper Historical Market Analysis: Gain invaluable insights into the unique behavior, liquidity dynamics and price trends within futures markets over time.
  • Streamlined Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Support audits and regulatory inquiries with accurate historical futures order book snapshots, verifying trading activities and adherence to market rules specific to derivatives.

Asset Metadata Product Updates

Industry Classification Overhaul: We completed a thorough review and enhancement of our asset industry classification framework. Every existing industry was revisited and redefined to ensure clearer distinctions, improved accuracy, and greater analytical value across datasets.

In addition to refining current definitions, we introduced several new categories, including Decentralised Infrastructure, Oracle Services, and CEX Tokens. As part of this initiative, we began a detailed review of over 200 key assets to ensure proper alignment with the updated industry definitions.

On-Chain Product Updates

Arbitrum DEX integrations: Our Arbitrum DEX integration efforts are advancing well. The Uniswap V3 integration on Arbitrum is in the data backfilling phase. Regarding Curve, we have successfully integrated a portion of the factory addresses, which are now in pre-production testing. Our team continues to work diligently on integrating the remaining Curve factory addresses.

Research Product Updates

Protocol Research Launch: Our protocol research offering went live this month with the publication of our first commissioned report on Bahamut, an emerging Layer 1 blockchain. The piece outlines Bahamut’s unique validator incentive design, decentralisation roadmap, and on-chain economic model, offering a narrative-led, high-quality overview aimed at institutional and ecosystem audiences. These reports are commissioned by the protocol teams and published via CoinDesk’s channels to maximise reach and impact.

Stablecoin Issuer Report - Deep-dive on Risk and Market Structure: We’ve launched a new Stablecoin Issuer Report product that provides stablecoin issuers with an independently authored assessment designed for distribution via CoinDesk’s institutional channels. Each report analyses the issuer’s reserves, regulatory footprint, transparency and governance, benchmarked against peers. Commissioned by the issuer, the reports act as high-quality collateral to support fundraising, listings, and regulator engagement while reinforcing trust with the broader market.

Custom Volume and Liquidity Reports - Branded Market Intelligence for Exchanges: We introduced a new Custom Volume and Liquidity Report product for exchanges seeking to highlight their trading performance through co-branded, data-driven research - leveraging CoinDesk Data’s proprietary metrics, such as order book depth, spreads, volume quality, and market share.

ICYMI:

Hyperliquid - Spot Integration: Following on from our launch of Hyperliquid futures data, we have launched our spot data offering for the popular on-chain venue. This comprehensive coverage gives users the complete picture of Hyperliquid’s trading activity, with the most granular data available.
