Trade Data Product Updates

At CoinDesk Data, we're continuously expanding our market data coverage to provide our clients with the most comprehensive cryptocurrency market intelligence.

New Exchange Integrations

This month, we've made significant strides in exchange integrations as we continue to integrate up and coming trading venues that we can onboard, expanding our price discovery capabilities. Newly launched exchange integrations include:

  • Bitunix - Spot Integration: A new spot exchange integration with Bitunix has been completed, providing enhanced market data coverage with both REST and streaming APIs.
  • Hyperliquid - Futures Integration: Hyperliquid has captured a significant share of the on-chain digital asset derivatives market. We have started our integration process with the exchange to expand our coverage of derivatives venues, and hope to have the data live in the coming weeks.
Other System Enhancements

Automated ‘Instrument Migration’ Process - Our exchange data collection process relies on our ability to split an exchange integration ‘instance’ across multiple machines. We have been finalising a process that automatically allows us to adjust how that split is balanced. This new process has been tested and rolled out to some of our highest liquidity trade integrations such as Binance Futures. The new capability allows us to scale much more quickly to spikes in market activity, further increasing the resilience of our systems.

Crypto.com API Migration - We have migrated all endpoints and websocket connections for Crypto.com to their V1 API to ensure the most reliable data access and compatibility.

‍Order Book Data Product Updates

New Realtime Top-Of-Book Streaming - Continued Stress Testing

After last month’s release of our new realtime top-of-book streamer, we have continued with internal stress testing to find the limit of the system and understand its scalability, as well as make small tweaks and improvements. The real-time best bid/ask subscription product offers tick-by-tick updates of the best bid and ask positions from supported exchanges, enabling users to monitor market dynamics as they unfold in real time. Migration of Order Book Integration ‘state’

Work has completed on a project to migrate where the live state of the Order Book is stored as a live integration is running. Moving the state to a local Redis instance reduces the risk of the book becoming out of sync due to IO delay or errors. This change will improve resilience and redundancy within the system architecture.

Exchange Integration Improvements:

We identified and made several improvements across our Order Book integrations, including the following:

  • Maintenance Period Backoff Mechanism: A backoff mechanism has been implemented for Deribit websocket connections during maintenance periods, reducing authentication attempts and avoiding rate limits.
  • Backfill Using Raw Snapshots: We have implemented a process to backfill minute snapshot systems and L1/L2 blobs using raw snapshots collected during historical service interruptions. This gives us the capability to backfill data to cover historical periods of system instability.

Asset Metadata Product Updates

Our asset metadata product covers a vast range of static data fields related to crypto assets, formatted and presented in a manner that allows easy background research, and alignment with data provided by our other products

Introduction of AI and Metaverse Categories

We have been working on increasing the lists for the three main categories (MEME, AI, and METAVERSE). The focus is on adding new relevant tokens from these categories, tagging tokens already present in our lists, and correcting tags that were added incorrectly according to our definition for each of these categories (currently under development).

Current coverage includes:

  • MEME - 510 total assets (over 60 added in March)
  • ARTIFICIAL_INTELLIGENCE - 458 total assets (over 40 added in March)
  • METAVERSE: TOTAL_ASSETS - 175 total assets

The constant expansion of asset category tagging ensures that even newly listed assets are accurately tagged, unlocking thematic grouping and comparison of assets across all other available datasets.

On-chain Product Updates

This month, we’ve made substantial progress expanding our suite of on-chain products, with specific focus on the Solana blockchain:

  • Solana DEX Swap Research - We have made significant advancements in onboarding Solana blockchain data, which brings us closer to our goal of implementing Solana Decentralized Exchange (DEX) integrations. . Initial research on understanding Solana DEX functionality and parsing solana swap and transactions direct from the blockchain is continuing.

New Generalized Settlement Rates:  In response to the increased volume of new product filings by our clients, many of whom have specific requirements for settlement rates on a broad range of digital assets, CoinDesk Indices has published a generalized settlement rate methodology to simplify and clarify construction, documentation, and customization of end-of-day and expiration rates (read more here).
