Trade Data Product Updates

New Exchange Integrations

As always, we have been striving to expand our exchange universe to cover the most significant trading venues. Newly launched exchange integrations include:

  • Bullish - Futures Integration - Fully integrated Bullish’s calendar and perpetual instruments.
  • Bit.com - Futures Integration - Added coverage of Bit’s full range of futures instruments.
  • Flipster - Spot Integration - Coverage of all available spot instruments.

Integration Improvements

Enhancements to existing integrations to ensure better performance and expanded features:

  • Kraken - API Migration - Moving to a new api offering allowed us to simplify our structure of Kraken instrument names and mapping, as well as utilise a websocket connection alongside polling. These improvements apply across both spot and futures data.
  • Bybit Futures - Websocket Integration - The addition of websocket connectivity reduces latency and increases resilience of the Bybit futures trade feed.

Orderbook Data Product Updates

Exchange Integration Improvements

  • Top of Book Data Optimisation - To address performance issues with orderbook integrations, we have optimized the process of writing top of book data to the EDS Redis cluster, ensuring smoother and more efficient data handling.
  • Central Ticker for Illiquid Instruments - We have implemented a central ticker system for illiquid orderbook instruments, improving message delivery and processing efficiency, and freeing up capacity for high liquidity instruments in times of high volatility.

Product Delivery and Usability Enhancements

  • API Documentation Updates - We have added generic Go Websocket boilerplate code to our API documentation, providing developers with a solid foundation for building websocket integrations.
  • Orderbook Replay Enhancements - Several improvements have been made to our orderbook replay functionality, including sequence validation, the addition of a minute-orderbook datasource, improved logging, and heartbeat handling to maintain connection stability.
  • One-Second Orderbook Snapshots - In addition to our minute granularity snapshots we now have the capability to produce a snapshot every second.

Asset Metadata Product Updates

Introduction of "Smart Contract Support Type" Field

A new field designed to differentiate levels of smart contract capabilities across blockchains, ensuring clarity for users evaluating technical capabilities.

  • Field ID: SMART_CONTRACT_SUPPORT_TYPE
  • Options:
    • No Verifiable Support: No demonstrable smart contract functionality.
    • Third-Party Support Only: Relies entirely on external platforms for smart contract operations.
    • Basic Logic and Scripting: Supports simple programmable operations, often requiring external solutions for more complex functionalities (e.g., Bitcoin scripting).
    • Advanced Execution Rights: Capable of executing intricate code with constraints like gas, memory, or compute limits (e.g., Ethereum).
    • Full Autonomy: Unrestricted execution of complex code, indicative of theoretical or next-gen blockchain technologies.

Introduction of AI and Metaverse Categories

We expanded the Industry Field to include two significant new categories, reflecting the latest trends in blockchain and digital assets:

  • AI (Artificial Intelligence):
    • Assets and projects integrating AI technologies to enhance data processing, decision-making, and automation within decentralised ecosystems. These projects focus on AI-driven analytics, machine learning models, and AI-based applications leveraging blockchain for transparency and security.
    • Examples: SingularityNET (AGIX), Fetch.ai (FET).
  • Metaverse:
    • Digital assets creating immersive virtual environments where users can interact, socialise, and transact within a digital universe. These projects often support VR, AR, and 3D spaces, enabling the creation and exchange of digital goods and experiences.
    • Examples: Decentraland (MANA), The Sandbox (SAND), Somnium Space (CUBE).

Index Product Updates

Launched CoinDesk 80 Index: Initiated the calculation of CoinDesk 80 Index (see chart ). The CoinDesk 80 Index tracks the performance of top digital assets outside of the CoinDesk 20 Index (see also Coindesk 20 Index) . Designed to give market participants access to the next tier of large and liquid assets for trading, risk management and allocation.

Rolled out the new CCData Blended Prices VWAP version (CCIXBVWAP): In addition to CCIXB which provides a real time blended USD and stable coins price, we have launched CCIXBVWAP prices. The CCIXBVWAP prices provide a volume weighted average settlement hourly price, built on top of CCIXB real time rates. CCIXB prices serve as underlying reference rates for the CoinDesk 80 real time and settlement Index values. See methodology here.

On-Chain Product Updates

Launch Of Arbitrum and Expanding Our On-Chain Capabilities

In response to the growing DeFi activities and rising institutional adoption, we are excited to announce we’re near to the full integration of the Arbitrum chain, increasing our supported chains to five, alongside Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Chain (BSC), Base, and Ethereum (ETH). This integration will enhance our suite of onchain products, specifically enabling more decentralised exchange (DEX) integrations, providing near real-time DEX trades and liquidity updates on Arbitrum. Looking ahead, we are also preparing to integrate Solana, driven by its surging demand and increasing trading volumes.
